The areas of study/training include but not limited to design, installation, manufacturing, testing, evaluation, technical sales, and maintenance. 3. The MET graduates will be able to apply their knowledge of engineering mechanics, engineering materials and processes, fluid and thermal sciences, CADD, machine design, electricity and electronics in the analysis and solution of engineering problems. Outcomes The MET graduates will have: 1. The knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of their disciplines. 2. The ability to conduct, analyze and interpret experiments and apply experimental results to improve mechanical systems and manufacturing processes. 3. A commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement by applying their knowledge of engineering economy and operations management. 4. The ability to work on team projects and communicate effectively with fellow workers 5. The qualifications to participate in professional society activities and professional development programs. The ability to utilize their knowledge of engineering materials, statics, dynamics, and strength of materials and solve problems related to mechanical systems that are stationary as well as in motion. 7. The necessary skills to calculate forces, moments, stresses and strains developed in structural members and machine elements. 8. The essential tools to analyze systems in motion, and calculate the velocity, acceleration, inertial forces, torque, power, and mechanical efficiency as required to solving engineering problems. 9. The ability to understand the working principles of thermal and fluid power systems, and solve problems using their knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid power. 10. The understanding of the electrical, electronics, and instrumentation and controls aspects of mechanical systems. 11. Enhanced problem solving abilities due to the added technical expertise in areas such as manufacturing processes, mechanical design, computer-aided drafting/design, engineering materials, solid mechanics, fluid power, thermal sciences, electro-mechanical devices including PLC's, and operations management. 12. Expertise in applied physics and inorganic chemistry to better apply the principles of engineering mechanics and materials, and fluid and thermal sciences in solving mechanical system problems.
