Health Information Technology from Rose State College is a Campus Associate Health Administration degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. Program Description The program begins in late August of each year. Upon admission into the program, the course of study is two years in length. Health Information Technology courses must be taken in consecutive order over the two years. Health Information Technology classes are offered only during the day. Enrolling in a full-time schedule will require approximately 36 hours per week. If general education and basic health sciences courses have been completed, the health information classes will require approximately 10-20 hours per week during the Fall semester of the first year. During the spring semester of the first year, health information classes will require approximately 20-30 hours per week. During both semesters of the second year, health information courses will require 30-40 hours per week. During the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th semesters, students have Directed Practice clinical assignments requiring at least ten 6.5 hour days, usually at off-site locations. Upon satisfactory completion of the required curriculum, the student receives an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Health Information Technology . This degree enables the graduate to be eligible to take the national certification examination through the AHIMA.
