Our Program Sandhills Community College and Pitt Community College have a collaborative agreement that will allow students in the Sandhills area to attend classes at Sandhills and take classes online at Pitt to graduate with a degree in Health Information Technology (HIT). Graduates from the HIT program will be prepared to supervise departmental functions; classify, code and index diagnoses and procedures; coordinate information for cost control, quality management, statistics, marketing and planning; monitor governmental and non-governmental standards; facilitate research; and design system controls to monitor patient information security. The HIT curriculum prepares individuals with the knowledge and skills to process, analyze, abstract, compile, maintain, manage, and report health information .
