Studio Arts from Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture is a Campus Associate Fine Art degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Who We Are The Studio Arts Department delivers all fine art classes required to achieve the AFA degree . The courses are divided into five areas of focus including painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry/metals, and sculpture. Objectives The AFA studio arts curriculum is designed so the student has a comprehensive studio arts experience. During the first year of study students are introduced to foundation art courses including 2D Design, 3D Design, and Drawing I and II. These courses emphasize basic studio skills, critical thinking, and self-motivation skills needed to succeed in the program. In the second year of study students are required to take four introduction to studio courses, two courses in the two-dimensional art concentrations of painting, printmaking, and photography and two courses in the three-dimensional art concentrations of ceramics, sculpture, and jewelry. Students nearing completion of the AFA studio arts degree may wish to apply for admission to the BFA studio arts program. Multiple Career Paths Alumni from the IAIA Studio Arts Program have exhibited their work in galleries and museums both nationally and internationally, and have received numerous awards for their work and their contribution to the arts. Students will be prepared to continue on to graduate school or find employment in numerous professional environments including galleries, museums, and art organizations.
